Grundy Day Loop, a Short Walk Through Old Mining Country

Grundy Day Loop Trail is a short, easy loop through the Cumberland Plateau woods above the old Grundy mining settlements — a quieter corner of Fiery Gizzard State Park than the trail system’s bigger-name hikes, and a good one for an afternoon rather than a full day.

The loop covers 2.1 miles with 421 feet of climb — rated Easy — and passes a waterfall along the way. It’s a manageable walk for most fitness levels, with enough elevation change to feel like a real hike without demanding a full day on the trail.
